Instead of flirting with the ladies in the movie, Aiba prefers Toma. XD

As reported,

Last Oct 26th, Aiba Masaki and his co-starts Ikuta Toma, Eikura Nana, and Han Hyo-joo attended the world premier for  “MIRACLE: Devil Claus’ Love and Magic”. The said movie is part of the 27th Tokyo International Festival that happened in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo.

Written by Nakamura Ko and soundtrack by Yamashita Tatsuro with “Christmas Eve“, “MIRACLE” tells the story of unrequited love among four people that includes a worthless bookstore member, Yamamoto Hikaru (Aiba Masaki), who aspires to be a cartoonist and weaves a miracle at Christmas Eve with the help of “Devil Claus”.

“Devil Claus” is a character that can only be seen by Hikaru and when ask about his “dark side”, Aiba commented that he has a dark side though he won’t show it to anyone. Ikuta then joked that he has seen that part of Aiba back in the old days and it was really scary, making the hall erupt with laughter.

Since the movie is about love, the stars were asked about their heart-throbbing moment and Aiba mentioned the time when Ikuta lend him his coat during filming because it was cold and he felt his heart skipped a beat. Although Aiba and Ikuta belong to the same agency, this is the first time since “Stand by me” (1997) that they have worked together again.

MIRACLE: Devil Claus’ Love and Magic” will have its regular showing in Japan on Nov 22nd and will also be screened in Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Ouroboros is getting more exciting with an addition of one of my favorite Japanese actress.

As reported,

It was announced that actress Ueno Juri will join the cast of “Ouroboros” that stars Ikuta Toma and Oguri Shun.

“Ouroboros” is a live adaptation from the manga of the same title by Kanzaki Yuuya. It tells the story of two orphaned friends where one grows up as a police detective (Ikuta) while the other is yakuza (Oguri). Together, the two will extract revenge for their foster parent. Ueno plays the role of Hibino Mizuki, an elite police officer who graduated from Tokyo University and will be Ikuo’s (Ikuta) police buddy.

This is the first time that the Ikuta and Ueno will be working together and their characters will be having a love story; however, Ikuta regrets that it’ll be a sad one. Ikuta is also full of enthusiasm after learning the names of the amazing actors who will be working with them.

Rounding-up the cast, are: Yoshida KotaroKenichi Takito, Yoshida Yō, Mitsuishi Ken, and Seino Nana.

Ouroboros” will air on TBS every Friday at 10:00 PM (JST) starting on Jan 31st.

Whoever these women are, they’ve got taste and maturity. haha. I agree with this ranking though I’ll probably change the numbers. The men in this Top 10 are classic and sometimes, rugged handsome. They are not typical bishounen and ikemen but faces that get better with age. Other than that, let’s all pretend that MatsuJun’s face is really as smooth in the pictures.

Rants & Raves : Winter Dramas

$

0

Its Winter and while most winter drama SPs have started, I’m nowhere near in finishing my GnS recap. I don’t have too much free time to do a drama preview, also because 1 drama have started and 2 SPs are over so I’ll just do this post along with other things.

Here is my occasional Rants & Raves : Winter Dramas

  • Kusanagi Tsuyoshi’s “Zeni no Sensou” premiered with 14.1% in ratings

I think that’s pretty high compared to most Johnny’s-starring dramas that usually earned 11% or lower for their drama’s pilot episode. However, the 14.1% rating got a lot of criticisms considering that the Korean original, “War of Money”, received more than 30% in ratings during its run. I guess making a remake isn’t such a good choice and dramas with high ratings doesn’t mean that their counterpart will receive the same.

  • Taishi Kakka no Ryourinin 2015 SP

Sakurai Sho playing a chef, father, and husband looks good and his fans would be like, “this is the future that I see in him” (or is it just me? Move along…). Shige is also in this drama but the biggest factor why I’m so unmotivated to watch this drama is Ayame Gouriki.

  • Ninomiya Kazunari joins a stellar cast in “Murder on the Orient Express” SP

One of the most-awaited SPs this season that should not be missed. I’m particularly excited to see how Koki Mitani will make a Japanese adaptation of a classic novel and since I haven’t read the book, I’m ecstatic to make guesses on whodunit.

ouro

  • Ikuta Toma on “Ouroboros”

Ever since “Ouroboros” was announced last fall, I knew then that I will watch this drama. Not only does BFFs Ikuta Toma and Oguri Shun are in one drama, I also want to see one of my favorite JP actress, Ueno Juri, doing a deka drama. The plot is interesting since the “revenge” factor spells suspense and lots plot twists, but I’m more eager to see Ryuzaki’s (Ikuta) and Danno’s (Oguri) contrasting personalities in making this drama worth to watch. Aside from that, Ikuta and Oguri look so much alike their manga counterparts.

  • Bunch of Johnny’s Juniors in “Oniichan, Gacha” lead by Kishii Yuta

This late night drama is kawaii overload starting with Suzuki Rio, and Kishii Yuta have proven from his last drama, “Kinkyori Renai~Season Zero~” that he’s just as adorable and more importantly, he can act. I don’t know how the director will make him transform from a toy to a human being and I hope it’s not some cringe-worthy graphics.

  • Kamenashi Kazuya Romances Fukada Kyoko in “Second Love”

Kame always has a dating rumor when he has a new drama and this time, it’s with the über gorgeous Fukada. Well, I can’t blame the tabloids for creating a love affair between the two since they have worked together for “Joker Game” and now in “Second Love”. The drama’s stills is such a tease and it makes me expect a lot, which I know is wrong since “too much expectations leads to too many disappointments”. But I like Kame and it’s been so long since he did a melodrama (Tatta no hitotsu koi with Ayase Haruka, 2006) and the forbidden love plot is too intriguing to past up. I searched about Oishi Shizuka, the drama’s writer, and it’s such a shame that of all the love stories she wrote, I’ve only seen “Otenki onee-san” and it’s not even a love story!

That’s all for now.For the rest of the Johnny-starring dramas, check HERE.

Ikuta Toma talks about not being in Arashi and how Sakurai rescued him

$

It really doesn’t matter because Toma is doing well and it’s just goes to show that when a door closes, a window will open. I get that right, right? Aside from that,  “Sakurai-Ariyoshi abunai yakai” is getting a lot of news lately.

Last Jan 15th, Ikuta Toma appeared in  “Sakurai-Ariyoshi abunai yakai” to promote his drama, “Ouroboros“. Arashi‘s Sakurai Sho is one of the show’s MC and Ikuta talks about how Sakurai  rescued him, which made Sakurai tear-up.

Before Arashi was formed, Ikuta was one of the most active in Johnny’s Jrs. together with his peers, Aiba Masaki, Ninomiya Kazunari, and Matsumoto Jun. So when the three got chosen and Ikuta did not, he got frustrated. Furthermore, Arashi became popular and Ikuta was one of backdancers during their first concert. Ikuta felt like a gap was built between him and Arashi and he was thinking that he’s defeated.

Nevertheless, during the first concert, Sakurai faced the fans and thanked everyone including Johnny’s Jrs. After the concert, Sakurai directly went to Ikuta and he said, “thank you, Toma”. Ikuta was touched by Sakurai’s word of thanks and he was very happy.

Back at the show, Sakurai smiled with embarrassment as he covers his face to wipe his tears.

via Daily Sports and Sponichi Annex

Frankly, he’s better off as an actor. Though I was also disappointed that he didn’t debut together with MAIN or with 4tops, it paved the way for him to grow as an actor. He may never have a CD debut but he got amazing movies under his belt. So, Toma, you were never defeated.

First Impressions on Ouroboros

$
0
0

It’s Ouroboros time! I’ve been waiting for this drama since it was announced and it got me more excited when my beloved Juripe has been included in the cast. The first episode failed to deliver expected ratings, only 11.5%. Nonetheless, Ouroboros will let us see the bff’s playing like their past characters, Ikuta crossing between his detective character from “Mogura no Uta” and his psycho self from “Nou Otoko”. While Oguri Shun crosses between a serious and business-like persona from “Tokyo Dogs” and his crazy persona in “Crows Zero”.

Here is a quick recap of Ouroboros : Episode 1

“Ouroboros” is an ancient Greek symbol depicting a dragon devouring its own tail. It means infinity and eternity; death and resurrection. In the case of Danno and Ikuo, their Yuiko-sensei’s (Hirosue Ryoko)necklace depicts not one but two dragons devouring its own tail. It’s their only memento left by their murdered teacher, and the source of their drive take on the revenge that they’ve planned since they were kids.

Fast forward to present year, Ryuuzaki Ikuo (Ikuta Toma) is now a detective who boasts 100% arrest rate from his division. He gets partnered with Hibino Mizuki (Ueno Juri), an elite and career officer, who is also famous for being the daughter of Kanagawa’s district chief of police. Aside from that, she takes everything seriously and she doesn’t like seeing Ikuo smelling the corpse that was ruled-out as suicide.

Ikuo couldn’t care less about the suicide impression and tells Hibino that the man, who have said to have jumped from 6th floor, ate gyoza before he died. Not just any gyoza, he ate the nearby Chinese restaurant famous for their triple garlic gyoza. LOL. Before the body was taken away, Ryuuzaki was able to see the man’s family picture inside his wallet, the man looks too happy to be committing suicide.

After the body was taken away, Ikuo teases Hibino that she must have eaten curry. Well, his guess is right but Hibino is too pissed to agree that she brushed and gargle as soon as they arrived at their division.

The next day at the Shinjuku police bureau, second division’s Chief Mishima Kaoru (Yoshida Kotaro) teases Ikuo about making Hibino fall in love with him and he’ll surely be their mediator. Hibino enters the office and tells Chief not to make stupid jokes and Chief says that if Ikuo and Hibino has a bad partnership, he’ll likely demote Ikuo. Hibino says that it’s weird that someone like Ikuo has 100% arrest rate and in between jokes, Ikuo says that he’s used to that kind of treatment.

Elsewhere, two detectives from second division are conducting a search at a certain store for their bootleg DVDs. The detectives also have information that the store is working for a certain yakuza. So the two detectives enter the store and sees boxes of DVDs, mostly educational, self-help, and meditation DVDs

Well, the real bootleg DVDs featuring french maids and nurses were in a certain office and Fukamachi Takeshi (Muro Tsuyoshi) confirms that the police did go to one of their stores and thankfully, they were saved. The two goons rejoiced with this news and they all have the Lieutenant to thank.

The said Lieutenant is Danno Tatsuya (Oguri Shun), whose busy rolling a cigar, while he checks some stocks on net. Fukamachi and the two goons enters Danno’s office and asks if the rumors are true that he’s a mogul’s illegitimate child, along with Danno being a son of an American and was raised in an organization of spies, etc. Danno calls them idiots and says that everything is a lie since he makes it his motto for the week to lie as he breathe. To prove his point, he tells his minions that they lost 200 million and when Fukamachi says that he’ll do harakiri, Danno says that he was just jesting since in truth, they gained 300 million.

Back at the second division, Ikuo tries to ignore that distress look of his co-workers as they sigh how they swung and missed again. Ikuo decides to concentrate on the online news regarding the man that was reported to have committed suicide. Hibino interrupts his thoughts and says that she’ll be investigating the series of break-ins in the neighborhood, coincidentally, a break-in happened at the site where the man’s body was found last night.

Ikuo goes with Hibino but he requested that they make a stop first, he wants to see Nishida’s family, the man who committed suicide. Ikuo reason’s out that a person wouldn’t normally eat something strong before his death but rather something comforting.

At Nishida’s household, mother and daughter are still grieving the lost of the man in their family. Nishida-mama says that she can’t believe that her husband would kill himself since he hasn’t told mama anything about his problems. After Ikuo and Hibino left, Nishida’s only girl, Yukina-chan, chases them and asks them to find the killer. She’s sure that her father was killed, he won’t commit suicide because it’ll be her birthday few days from now and he promised that they will buy a gift together. Full of grief, she tells Ikuo and Hibino that if they don’t do anything about it, she’ll find the killer on her own and kill him herself.

Such sad and revengeful look from the little girl moved Ikuo and recalls a childhood promise between him and Danno. Unknown to Ikuo and Hibino, someone is watching them as they leave the Nishida household.

Back at the parking lot where Nishida’s body was found along with the reported break-in to one of the parked cars, the camera caught Sawatari, a repeat offender, and someone that Ikuo knows. In the video, it was clear that Sawatari stole something from the car but it was also clear that he saw something above before he went running. The time matches Nishida’s time of suicide.

Ikuo says that Sawatari must have seen Nishida falling from the roof and Hibino says that they should bring Sawatari for questioning. She’s beginning to change her earlier belief that Nishida committed suicide and wants to look at other possibilities.

At the first division, Chuono Shinichi (Kenichi Takito) and Shouji have some background info on Nishida. He learned that Nishida works for Kanto transport, a company used as a front by the yakuza group, Handa-gumi. Chuono is aware that the company is a front but the police still has no idea where the money of that yakuza group came from so they can’t make arrest. He also thinks that Nishida got dragged on something and says that the Abiko group’s Matsue-gumi is also located where Handa-gumi’s financial offices is located. Speaking of Matsue-gumi, Chuono’s face scrunch-up with disgust and delight just by thinking the Matsue’s leader, Danno.

Well, Chuono isn’t the only one interested with Handa-gumi, Danno has ordered Fukamashi to investigate about Handa-gumi’s Takigawa. One of Handa-gumi’s illegal work is smuggling contraband guns from China and to hide it from the police, the group hides their loot at one of their fake companies, which is Kanto Transport.

Fukamachi asks if they should “take care” of Takigawa, Danno tells him not to kill Takigawa, well, not yet. It’s better if Danno would take care of Takigawa soon since he just took care of two more lives, Nishida’s mother and daughter.

Along alleyways, Ikuo and Hibino are having a race as they chase Sawatari along the nook and cranny of Shinjuku. Ikuo almost got Sawatari but he decided to change direction and he chases a wanted serial rapist who happened to passed by.

Ikuo’s achievement didn’t make Hibino that happy, she sarcastically tells Ikuo that compared to Sawatari, the serial rapist who is wanted for so long, is a bigger achievement. However, people would normally tell their partner where they are headed so Ikuo promises that he won’t act alone as much as possible. Ikuo’s statement irks Hibino and says that instead of “as much as possible”, he should say “definitely” and adds that they must go after Sawatari the next day. Ikuo tries to pacify Hibino by asking her for a dinner but all he got is an irate reply.

Dinner time and Ikuo is at his favorite restaurant, Shinsoku Kitchen, where the menu goes from Japanese to Thai to Italian. A certain man finds it weird and Ikuo says that the restaurant caters to all walks of life so their menu is like that. When asks if he will recommend anything, the waitress, Kaoru, recommends omurice since that’s what Ikuo ordered all the time. Ikuo also highly recommends it so the man orders it. However, Ikuo didn’t get the time to eat his omurice since he got a frantic call from Hibino, telling him to go to the hospital since the bodies of Nishida’s mother and daughter were found. Ikuo gives his omurice to the man as his treat before he rushes off.

At the hospital, what was assumed a suicide turned-out to be false since Nishida’s mother and daughter doesn’t have any water in their lungs. In short, they didn’t drown themselves since they were dead before they were thrown into the water. The only fortunate thing that happened is that Yukina was revived while it was too late for the mother. Chuono, who was first to arrive in the hospital with Shouji, says that Nishida’s death has become too suspicious.

After hearing about the sad news, Ikuo walks-out on his own, leaving Hibino to wonder where he’d gone off to. Ikuo ignores Hibino’s call on his touchphone but he did answer another incoming call, the one from his flip phone.

At Handa-gumi, Takigawa is red with anger upon learning that Yukina, have lived. He wants her to be disposed immediately and since he can’t trust his minions, he might as well do it himself. He orders one of his goons to bring the car around.

Unknown to Takigawa, the guy he was ordering isn’t really fit to do his bidding. He’s currently somewhere, with a bloodied nose and shivering from fear, as he did what Danno have told him. Danno is casually smoking and prepares to kill the man. However, he didn’t do it and asks the man to go through his story one more time. The man confirms that they didn’t kill Nishida, according to Takigawa, Nishida saw something in their company and decided to kill himself. However, he did affirm that they did drown Nishida’s wife and kid.

After his explanation, Danno is satisfied and ordered them to gather up themselves, go to the police, and fess-up. Of course, they should not mentioned Danno’s name. Before he leaves them, the man asks why is he doing such thing and Danno says that it’s because he’s an ally of justice. Obviously, he’s lying. Remember his motto for the week?

At an underground parking lot, Takigawa waits for his goon to bring the car around but instead of a car, he found himself meeting a bullet. As for the goons, well, they turned themselves in with some sort of desperation and urgency just as Ikuo enters the station.

Later on, Chuono and Shouji are at the underground parking lot where Takigawa is obviously dead. They assumed that it’s just some nasty yakuza fight until they received a call that men from Handa-gumi’s have turned themselves to police and they said that it was Takigawa who ordered them to kill Nishida’s family. If that’s the situation, then why is Takigawa lying there, dead?

Furthermore, contraband goods from the Kanto Transport were seized the next day and Fukamashi says that it’ll surely be the end for Handa-gumi. As for Takigawa, he tactically tells Danno that Takigawa’s body was killed and found at the parking lot of Danno’s apartment. Danno casually says the he killed him and after Fukamashi greets him with “otsukare”, Danno says that they are not yet done and shows Takigawa a sachet of drugs. He asks him to look into it as well as to buy something for him.

Back at second bureau, Ikuo and Chief arrives at the interrogation room just as first bureau’s Chuono and Shouji are done. Chief asks him how did the talk go and Chuono says they got nothing except on what everyone else know. Chuono thinks it’s bullshit, especially when the goons said that their conscience is bothering them about killing Nishida’s family so they turned themselves in. It’s so obvious that they were threatened by someone to do it and he directs his anger to Ikuo and asks him if he beat the shit out of those goons.

Ikuo denies it, of course, and Chief tells Chuono that Ikuo is not that bad. However, Chuono says that Ikuo has the number 1 arrest rate in the division, I guess he means that Ikuo beat them up in turn of their arrests.

Anyway, Hibino arrives and tells Ikuo that they have a guest. The said guest is Yotsutani’s detective, Ishimori, whose visiting the 2nd division to tell something about Sawatari. According to Ishimori, he believes that Sawatari murdered Takigawa because he sells drugs for him. Hibino thinks that it’s likely that Takigawa and Sawatari had a fight about drugs, but Ikuo doesn’t believe it. He was the one who arrested Sawatari before and he said that he’s not the type who would sell drugs and even kill someone for it. He doesn’t think that he has fallen that far. Hibino then tells Ishimori that they will pursue Sawatari for his theft case only and they’ll just investigate after that.

Before Ishimori leaves, he tells Ikuo that he can’t judge someone that easily because people who does that are monsters hiding their true selves. After Ishimori left, Hibino says that she doesn’t quite agree with Ishimori, the Chief also shares her opinion, but Ikuo says that he actually agrees with him. For Ikuo, people aren’t what they seem to be. Hibino asks why he would say something like that and Ikuo uses Hibino as an example. He says that even though she doesn’t look like one, she’s actually a big eater and correctly guesses that Hibino’s last meal is gyudon with egg. haha.

At Danno’s office, Chuono and Shouji pays him a visit and starts by telling that he shouldn’t have hired such a gruff bodyguard. The bodyguard in question is a black man behind Danno, but he tells them that he’s actually his lawyer, Sato Douglas Kentarou. Danno says that he learned about Handa-gumi on news, he adds that yakuzas seem to be dying these days. Chuono asks him that with the Handa-gumi gone, Matsue-gumi will benefit the most and they have one or two leads on Takigawa’s murder case. Danno asks if they have proof and Chuono can only fake a laugh. Danno says that they cooperate with the police so they wouldn’t do something like that and Chuono says that all yakuzas are not be trusted, especially Danno, since he always looks like he’s lying and he’s that transparent.

Unable to move-on from Chuono’s statement, Danno looks on a pocket mirror to check his transparency when Fukamachi enters with a gift bag and reports his findings about the drugs.

Elsewhere, Danno and Ikuo talks back-to-back about what Fukamachi have learned. Danno tells Ikuo that he probably knows about the guy they were chasing, and it seems that the end is near. He tells Ikuo to gather all his willpower and Ikuo asks him about the paper bag with Danno. Danno tells him that he’ll take care of it since it seems impossible for Ikuo and after a Danno left, Hibino arrives to lecture him and drags him to look for Sawatari. Danno sees that scene and comments on Ikuo’s dominant partner.

The two end up in a manga/internet cafe where Sawatari’s allies says that they don’t believe that Sawatari would do something like sell drugs and kill someone. They learned about the info from another detective, which Hibino and Ikuo presume to be Ishimori.

Afterward, they visit Yukina who is already aware that her mom was killed. She confirms to Hibino is they have caught the criminal, Hibino is surprise on what Yukina knows, and she tells her that a friend of her dad’s came to visit her. Ikuo smells something odd and familiar and sees a paper bag, beside it is a bear, and he recognized it as the bag that Danno was holding earlier. Yukina asks Hibino if they will kill the criminal and when Hibino shows hesistation, Yukina asks why even though her parents were killed. Ikuo chimes in and says that the police can’t do such thing.

Moments later, Ikuo receives a call from Sawatari to tell him that he didn’t do what they were accusing him. Ikuo believes him and asks if he sees someone on top of the building that night, he’ll meet Sawatari and even treat him for katsudon. Sawatari says that he’s scared and says that he did see two other people on the parking lot’s building that night and before he can continue, the line got cut-off.

More moments later, Ikuo and Hibino rushes to the site where Sawatari’s body now lay dead. The police also found a receipt with what appears to be Sawatari’s suicide note with a statement that he’s the one who killed Takigawa. Well, Ikuo didn’t believe it one bit and based from Sawatari’s statement before he died, there is someone else aside from Takigawa when his flip phone rang.

Hibino arrives later at the records section and Ikuo is nowhere to be found. She thought that Ikuo will be working quietly since he seems shock by Sawatari’s death. The Chief says that if Hibino understands Ikuo’s shock then she must just support him because based from his experience, Ikuo is the kind of guy who won’t last long in the business, unless there’s someone like Hibino next to him.

Back at Sawatari’s murder scene, Ishimori arrives because he was called by Ikuo. Ikuo tells him that he learned something interesting about Takigawa’s drug trafficking business. As it happens, most drugs that appear in the market aren’t in their purest form but were usually mixed with other materials like liquids and such. As to where Takigawa obtained those materials, it was the same blend that Yotsutani police was able to confiscate from a defunct yakuza group, and who is from Yotsutani police, it’s none other than Ishimori.

Ishimori didn’t deny it, he took out his gun and asks Ikuo how he found out. Ikuo says his good sense of smell says it all, he smelled it from Ishimori’s breath, the bittersweet smell of a drug user. Ishimori was the one giving Takigawa drugs to sell and Nishida just found-out everything by accident. So they have to bring him down; however, they didn’t think that they’d be seen by Sawatari. Thus, Ishimori also have to take care of Sawatari.

Without any feeling of remorse, Ishimori even make excuses for what he did. Being in police is a business, they cover-up crimes in return of something else, they are a privilege class. In fact, Ikuo can be one of those in privilege class if he wants to, unless he choose to do something heroic and die. While Ishimori drones-on, Ikuo can only think of her Yuiko-sensei as she struggles up to her final breath, the moment when the police arrives, the unseen face of a man with a gold watch, and so. It’s like Ikuo sees nothing but his past and the likes of Yukina who have lost her precious family. It’s simply unforgivable.

Ishimori is prepared to kill him by a bullet of his gun when a motorcycle arrives, he shoots a bullet to the incoming motorcycle while Ikuo battles with Ishimori. Ikuo manages to take a shot first before Ishimori can aim at him. Well, Ikuo didn’t kill him yet, and the guy on the motorcycle happens to be Danno. Ishimori asks who are they and Danno says that they are Ouroboros, the two dragons. Cool.

Before Ishimori can meet the Shinigami, Ikuo asks about the incident 20 years ago near the Kasumi coast. An orphanage called Mahoraba had their owner killed and they haven’t seen the four men who ran away from the scene. Eventually, the crime has been covered-up and the two can remember the man with gold watch who covered-up the case. Hearing about the gold watch, Ishimori says that it’s definitely the Kintokei-gumi. Ishimori only heard rumors but he knows that it’s an organization of the elite of elite’s where its members occupies the top position in almost everywhere from police, politics, financial world etc. Their members have gold watches to show that they graduated from top schools in the country. If the case 20 years ago did involve Kintokei then it’s easy to cover it up since a police holds a top position in the group. Ishimori actually laughs at Ikuo and Danno and tells them that 25,000 police will be their enemies if they fight against Kintokei.

Ikuo and Danno have heard what they want to hear, Ikuo aims the gun to Ishimori but he begs for his life. Danno then lays a gun beside him and tells him to kill himself. Well, Ishimori doesn’t want to kill himself and fires the gun at Danno. Unfortunately, the gun is fake and Ikuo repeats Ishimori’s words earlier on how people like Ikuo are monsters hiding their true selves. Together, the twin dragons aim their guns toward Ishimori.

Later on, Ikuo sits at the sidelines as the police checks-on Ishimori’s body. Hibino arrives and asks what had happened. Ikuo says that he met Ishimori to talk more about Sawatari and while they were talking, he hears gunshot, and Ishimori was shot. Ikuo excuses himself because he’s not feeling well and when he walked past by Chuono, Chuono says that Ikuo’s eyes aren’t that of a detective but the eyes of a killer. Chuono says that he has good intuition, Ikuo’s nose isn’t that great at all. Of course, Hibino wouldn’t agree with that observation. haha.

As Ikuo walks away from the crime scene, a scene from his childhood plays on his mind. A certain member of Kintokei, the police with a gold watch, tells them that “they didn’t see or know anything” as if he’s trying to hypnotize them.

Elsewhere, Danno orders someone to investigate about Kintokei. The man, who calls himself Mikoshiba Jesus, is an underworld specialist demon writer. Danno promises a handsome reward if he can learn more about Kintokei.

Speaking of reward, Ikuo has a reward to Yukina as Hibino and he sees her off. Yukina will be staying with a relative and before she boards the bus, Ikuo whispers, “the bad guy is gone”.

Back at Shinsoku restaurant, Hibino receives a call from her father who tells her that he’ll be transferred soon so he’ll be near Hibino. Hibino coldly shrugs it off while her father, the man whom Ikuo gave the omurice earlier, says how it’s the first time he spoke with her daughter after three years.

At a more posh restaurant, Danno and Ikuo talks back-to-back as Danno reminds Ikuo to prepare himself, it’s the real thing from here on. Danno will control businesses in Shinjuku while he gathers information for Ikuo so he’ll get promoted. They need to move up, rise through the ranks of police and yakuza, until they reach Kintokei and will surely kill them all.

Comments

That was such an intense episode! The first few minutes will remind you of “Ryusei no Kizuna” where siblings promised one another of extracting revenge. It has the same feel here in Ouroboros, revenge, and how they glorify killing, yet at the same time treats it as justice being served.

You can see Ikuo is quite twisted and I love a twisted Ikuta Toma. haha. I think that he’s the one who killed Takigawa because Takigawa wouldn’t be asking, “who are you?”, if it’s Danno. Surely, he knows Danno, right? As for Danno, he’s business-like appeal looks more sane than Ikuo. Judging from the scene of Yuiko-sensei’s death, Ikuo looks more affected and Danno is like the elder brother who needs to pacify Ikuo by promising to take on revenge. Anyway, I wonder how they managed to get where they are now, Ikuo as a detective and Danno as a yakuza. I’m interested to see that in the next episodes.

As for Hibino, I already have suspicions about her father because that’s the only “sad romance” angle I can think of between her and Ikuo. I think she also has suspicions about Ikuo after what Chuono told her but I guess, she refuses to believe it. She looks particularly shock when she sees Ikuo’s eyes after he killed Ishimori.

I think that the big question is why Yuiko-sensei was killed. She looks too innocent as an orphanage owner but I guess, just like what Ikuo says, some people aren’t who they seem to be. After all, why does Kintokei have to cover it up and why does someone in their organization will kill someone like Yuiko-sensei.

For first impressions, Ouroboros is a must-see, you can see Ikuta and Oguri flirting with one another, Ikuta flirting with Ueno Juri, and Ikuta being awesome. haha. Seriously, the plot is branch-out, connected, and intertwined to other things that it’s unlikely that they will run out of cases and stories to tell. This is one of this season’s deka drama that won’t bore you.

Usual credits apply.

Rants & Raves : Trailer

$

It’s February, the dreaded month for singles. haha. Oh well, Mozilla keeps on crashing and lagging, which is where my tumblr account is so I decided to do this while I wait for the site to repair itself.

Here is my occasional Rants & Raves : Trailer

(c) ひろみ(●’∇’)♪ @piromin75

  • Jacket cover for Arashi’s “Sakura” is out and the vibe is quite similar with their “au mobile” cm in the past

That’s what my first reaction when I saw the jacket cover but you can never go wrong with black and white. It looks cool on them in contrast with the single’s generic title. Even though the vibe is very much like Ouroboros, I was expecting them to be all pink since the song’s title is “Sakura” but I guess they went for the unexpected route.

  • Jacket cover for NEWS “WHITE” album is also out

Well, the cover is expected that it looks boring. I somehow missed the bold colors of KAGUYA. Also, what are they wearing? Are they gonna enter some sort of seminary or monastery?

  • First trailer of Kimura Takuya’s “HERO” movie is now out, you can check it HERE.

The first trailer doesn’t really tell much about the movie but, ugh, Kimura looks older. I mean, he is old, but his face is scrunch-up that it shows age. I guess too much sun (since he surfs) and smoking can really damage your skin in the long run.

as

  • New (longer) trailer for Yamada Ryosuke’s “Assasination Classrom” is now up at the movie’s website, here.

The Yamada-heavy trailer looks cool and more interesting than reading the manga. The fighting scenes looks tame and the CG looks good too. Congrats to Yamada for getting this much exposure in his first movie. I can’t wait for “Grasshopper”.

yokokuhan

  • New trailer for Ikuta Toma’s “Yokoku-han” movie, check it here.

Ahhh! The movie looks fierce, Ikuta has his hair styled like that in “Nou Otoko”, and I can’t wait to see him together with Toda Erika. Toda always looks cool when she plays a detective like in SPEC. XD.

  • TOKIO’s Joshima Shigeru will star in drama SP this spring for “Asahiyama Zoo Story 2015″ where he will play a zookeeper

Another “job” to add in his expansive resume from being an idol, band leader, carpenter, and now a zookeeper. Not just any zookeeper, but a hippopotamus zookeeper, which is quite rare, I think.

  • Male celebrity ranking who are often mistaken as Johnny’s, are: (1) Koike Teppei, (2) Wentz Eiji, (3) Miura Haruma; (4) Narimiya Hiroki; (5) Miura Shohei; and 6 and up, here.

LOL at WaT being in the Top 2, they do look like Johnny’s and Eiji can be mistaken as Takki’s little brother. I agree with the top 2, not so much with Miura Haruma since I know from the start that he’s from AMUSE, Miura Shohei can also be mistaken for being in Johnny’s. I guess it’s because he starred with Kame and Jin among others in Gokusen 2. However, I have no idea how they could mistook Narimiya Hiroki as a Johnny. Seriously? I love Narimiya, he’s an awesome actor but an idol? XD. Well, I must confess, I used to believe that Oguri Shun is in Johnny’s. haha. I told this to a friend of mine and she was like, “can you see him dancing?”. Well, no.

That’s all for now! I’m leaving you  with gorgeous Yuto ad for AOKI with the Juniors.

Summer is here! I can feel the heat and I’m in need of new sunnies everyday. XD. Anyway, here are some bits and pieces of hot and not so hot news from Johnny’s land. Involved parties, are: Ikuta Toma, Yamada Ryosuke, Yokoyama Yu, Matsumoto Jun, BUSAIKU, Ueda Tatsuya, and Okada Junichi.

  • Save the date! Nov 7th will be the day we’ll get to see the awesomeness of Ikuta Toma and Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke for their movie, “Grasshopper“. Trailer is not yet out but click here for the movie’s synopsis.

  • Kanjani8‘s Yokoyama Yu will be starring in a stage play, titled: “Blue Moon, which will start this April. “Blue Moon” is a romantic comedy that goes beyond time and space. This is Yokoyama’s first stage play after 9 years.

(c)zhuyun-alice

  • White day is almost here (in Japan) and as girls eagerly awaits for their “return gifts” from guys, Only★Star surveyed their readers who they want to received a “white day’s gift”. Based from 300 readers, taking the top spot is Arashi‘s Matsumoto Jun, and the rest of ranking can be found, HERE.
  • Some fans of BUSAIKU! got involved in a stampede when the group appeared in the live broadcast of PON! 3 people were lightly bruised when a part of the stage have collapsed. BUSAIKU is not yet in the studio when the accident happened and NTV have issued an apology. I know it’s hard but BE CALM.

  • KAT-TUN‘s Ueda Tatsuya is out to challenge the extreme by taking part in TBS’s “Zen sekai kyokugen survival“. Ueda will challenge his survival skills by spending 100 hours in the Arctic circle where temperature drops to -50 degrees Celsius and is known to be polar bears territory.

(c)(c)maakunsenpai

  • Fresh from his Japan Academy win, V6‘s Okada Junichi will return as Hirakata’s Park “Big Brother” as he successfully helped the park to reached last year’s goal of 1 million visitors. The Osaka-based park was visited by 1,047,246 people last year and even though the said quota is not this year’s goal, this year will be a “Thank You Year” and Okada is still out to reform the park.

That’s all for now, stay hydrated this summer! I’m leaving you with a badass “KISS KISS KISS” gif from KAT-TUN.

“I want to held by him” Ranking

In the tradition of nonsense ranking, here is another ranking that will surely make you wish it’s true.

Fashion magazine “an an” has been doing “dakaretai otoko” (literally, I want to held by him) feature that stopped in 2008. When it got resurrected, the said feature became limited to manga characters. This time, joshi SPA! decides to bring back famous an an‘s feature by surveying 300 women around 30s on who among today’s men (celebs, newscasters, and sportsmen) they want to be held by.

Here are the results for Joshi SPA!’s “I want to be held by him” Ranking

1) Saito Takumi

2) Tamaki Hiroshi

3) Ikuta Toma

4) Mukai Osamu

5) Sakurai Sho (Arashi)

6) Matsumoto Jun (Arashi)

7) Oguri Shun

8) Matsuda Shota

8) Tsumabuki Satoshi

10) EXILE TAKAHIRO

via Yahoo!Japan

Is it such a coincidence that the Johnny’s who made the Top 10 are those who made the cover of an an’s sex issue? haha. Toma’s the hottest btw, the one with Matsujun is just awkward, and Sho just doesn’t seem to fit.

More movies for Ikuta Toma! Gorgeous!

It was announced that Ikuta Toma is set to star in the movie “Himitsu THE TOP SECRET” that will be out in 2016.

Also in the cast is Okada Masaki, who will play the role of Aoki Ikkuo, the rookie investigator at ninth. Ikuta and Okada last worked in “HanaKimi special” (2008). Rumor Round-Up (Digest 021)

$

0

Since I was in hiatus, there’s been an influx of rumors in Johnny’s land which were mostly stupid. XD. Anyway, since there’s not love rumor, I decided to make a digest with these rumors. Involved parties, are: Ikuta Toma, Aiba Masaki, Ohno Satoshi, Murakami Shingo, Jojima Shigeru, Ninomiya Kazunari, and Nakai Masahiro.

  • Ikuta Toma is banned from attending Summer Music Festivals

JE can be really quite controlling with this rumor that uber gorgeous Ikuta Toma is banned from attending any music festivals this summer. The reason is after he got involved, or rather, rumored to be involved with a married MAXIMUM THE HORMONE member that was published in FRIDAY magazine. Call me judgmental but I’m one of those women who made some snarky comments to the involved woman and how I can’t believed that Ikuta actually liked her. haha. Well, love is blind and JE don’t have to be worried that Ikuta will have time to attend any music festival and joined the mosh pit since he’ll be filming “Himitsu ~THE TOP SECRET~” this summer.

vlcsnap-2015-04-27-18h34m42s35

  • Aiba Masaki is becoming too skinny?

Arashi‘s Aiba Masaki was hospitalized before due to spontaneous pneumothorax and his eating habits has been a caused of concern. Rumor has it that Aiba is becoming a tea enthusiast’s when he revealed in his radio show how he loves herbal tea and even carry a water bottle with tea in it. It seems like drinking tea like chrysanthemum tea is good in keeping hay fever symptoms at bay. However, Aiba’s diet caused concern since since at 176 cm, Aiba only weigh 55 kg, the same weight as Ninomiya Kazunari whose height is at 168 cm. Aiba’s skinny side is obvious in his latest drama, “Yokoso Wagaya e” and it’s even rumored that the drama’s downturn in ratings is one of the reasons. Well, to be fair to Aiba, his character is being stalked in the drama so it’s understandable if he looks skinny because he’s too distracted to eat.

  • Who has the most savings in Johnny’s?

The result of this article is merely an intelligent guess since I doubt LITERA have seen their bank accounts. However, some of their guesses might actually be true. As the old saying goes, “it’s not how much you earn, but how much you spend” and these Johnny’s are known to be cheap-o’s.

Here is Top 5:

5) Ohno Satoshi

Aside from his millions of revenues from Arashi, drama, and movies, Ohno is pretty modest with his lifestyle. Unlike fellow Arashi’s, Matsumoto Jun and Sakurai Sho, Ohno doesn’t drive a luxury car. Well, Ohno doesn’t even have a driver’s license to begin with unless he’s like Legal High‘s Komikado-sensei who collects luxury cars without knowing how to drive. Ohno sticks with his bicycle, he doesn’t splurge much into fashion as well, and he would rather used clothes and bag that were brought by his mom and sister.

4) Murakami Shingo

The number 4 is a surprise, but considering that Kanjani8‘s Murakami Shingo entered last year’s ranking with most CMs, I’m sure he’s raking lots of money and rumor has it that he invested it in a real-estate company. Since owning a business in JE is a no, rumor has it that it was registered under his mother’s name .Anyway, after rumors started swirling that Shingo isn’t directly involved with the company management, the real-estate’s reputation becomes so-so.

3) Jojima Shigeru

TOKIO’s oldest and the band’s leader, Jojima is known to be stingy but he splurge a lot in night life since he’s mostly seen in Ginza. Frankly, night life seems to be very expensive so I don’t know how about the savings thingy.

(c)http://www.nisshin-oillio.com

2) Ninomiya Kazunari

Everyone knows that Nino is super stingy except in his gaming hobby. Nino is known for not carrying his wallet around, splitting bills for a date, and scrimping in  clothes and meal when he can used that money to buy a game. In short, Nino has signs of a game addict. haha.

1) Nakai Masahiro

SMAP‘s leader seems to be most legit in this list. Nakai’s annual income range from 500-600 million Yen and he’s known to be one of the biggest taxpayers in Japan. He also donated a karge sum after the 2011 earthquake, and is known to be generous with his kouhais. Nakai doesn’t have that much to spend on and even hosts an annual banquet for his local friends and his kouhais.

J&A Claws have reached Tumblr

$
0
0

A post to all Johnny’s-related tumblr users, myself included.

I’ve read posts about tumblr blogs being given an email warning by tumblr due to “copyright infringement” from using and posting copyright photos, videos, jwebs, magazine scans, etc of talents from Johnny’s & Associates (Johnny’s Entertainment). Emails aside, some blogs notice that some of their posts were deleted due to infringement issues.

I know that copyright issues is a big deal in Japan and now international fans are also in the danger of losing their treasured scans, videos, etc due to this issue. Some says that someone might have directly reported to J&A that there are lot of violators in tumblr since it’s quite unlikely that those in the agency have too much free time to check on tumblr blogs. Also, FC members are also responsible in reporting violators of Johnny’s law, not just with scans and posts, but also those who sell their balloted  tickets.

Nevertheless, international fans should be wary of posting anything that might be consider a “copyright infringement”. Un-tagging a post is a sure way that it won’t be seen in search results so for those who are not yet following a certain Johnny’s-centered blog, follow them now, follow every blog that represents each group or member before they either stop blogging, have their blog taken down, or before they make their posts private, which completely defeat the purpose of blogging.

Anyway, while I don’t post scans on tumblr, I post most of their copyrighted pictures here and I also post screencaps of most Johnny’s dramas on tumblr. I haven’t received any take down notice from DMCA but I might do so (delete the pictures) if I can no longer protect my posts.

I’m not gonna say to stop posting this and that, it’s already hard for international fans to have access to most Johnny’s happenings since it’s so exclusive. For now, we just need to be very careful.

Additional Cast for “Grasshopper” Announced

New cast were announced for Ikuta Toma‘s newest badass movie, “Grasshopper“. As badass as Ikuta is Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke, who will return as an assassin, after he played a student assassin in live adaptation of “Ansatsu Kyoshitsu“.

The movie is based from bestselling novel of Isaka Kotaro that tells the story of once law-abiding teacher named Suzuki (Ikuta) who joined a criminal organization, Reijou, to avenge his lover. Suzuki will meet two different assassins, the knife-wielding Semi (Yamada) and suicide-driven Kujira (Asano Tadanobou), and the story will show how their lives will interlaced.

(c)movie.com

Asano was earlier mentioned as one of the assassins while the rest of the cast, are: Haru as Suzuki’s fiance, Aso Kumiko as the mystery housewife, Nanao as the yankee celebrity, Uzaki Ryudo as Kujira’s father,  Yoshioka Hidetaka, Murakami Jun, Ishibashi Renji, and Kaneko Norihito.

“Grasshopper” will be directed by Takimoto Tomoyuki, the same director whom Ikuta worked with in “Nou Otoko“. Surely, this movie will have loads of action and angst. However, judging from the storyline, it has a bit of “Ouroboros” with all those revenge and so.

Grasshopper” will hit the theaters on Nov 7th.

Johnny’s who Seems Smart Ranking

$
0
0

In the tradition of useless and weird ranking in the Japanese entertainment world, here is another ranking based on Johnny’s intelligence. 200 people (100 men and 100 women) in their 20-30 yrs old were surveyed on who among the Johnny’s talents they think has BRAINS.

Leading the pack is pretty obvious, Arashi’s Sakurai Sho, Keio graduate and respected newscaster. The rest of Johnny’s who made the Top 10 ranking, are:

2) Nakai Masahiro (SMAP)

3) Inohara Yoshihiko (V6)

(c)maakun-senpai

4) Okada Junichi (V6)

5) Kimura Takuya (SMAP)

6) Kokubun Taichi (TOKIO)

7) Joshima Shigeru (TOKIO)

8) Matsuoka Masahiro (TOKIO)

9) Ikuta Toma

(c)blowing-journey

10) Murakami Shingo (Kanjani8)

This ranking makes me think that of the saying “wisdom comes with age” because those who made the ranking are already in their 30s-40s. Does this mean that the younger ones aren’t viewed as smart as their senpais? Come to think of, Johnny’s who enter college are fewer than their senpais. Anyway, Inocchi and Kokubun have background in being news moderators so they are viewed as smart and articulate when  they expressed their opinions about different matters during their news programs. Nakai is also viewed as smart because he has chaired different variety shows and he seem always interesting to watch. NEWS’s Koyama Keiichiro, who is also NEWS EVERY’s newscaster, also made this ranking in the 13th place.

Those who aren’t doing into news, Okada is seen smart just by his impressive wit and remarks. Kimura seem smart because of the various TV roles he played, he’s seen as dexterous for being able to portray different roles. People think that Ikuta is smart because of the way he converses, and Matsuoka has an “intelligent face”. Frankly, these seem face value. haha.

Last but not the least, TOKIO’s leader is deem smart because of his different expertise in Astro DASH! and Shingo’s way of talking is considered “witty” by the voters.

It was a stressful and frustrating week, it had been sad and tiring but quite fulfilling (on the work side). Oh well, enough of my personal drama, while I was busy with my solving problems, here are some news and not so news that I missed. Involved parties, are: Kanjani8, Arashi, Jin Akanishi, Yamapi, Tamamori Yuta, Ikuta Toma, and Yamada Ryosuke.

(c)heartglitter

  • The end of August is like the announcements for albums and what follows an album is definitely a TOUR. Kanjani8 announces that they’ll be having a 5-Dome tour aside from a new album titled: “Kanjani8 no genki ga deru CD!!“.

  • Speaking of new album, Arashi will also be releasing an album called “Japonism“. The title sounds cool and I hope that the songs will be cooler. Arashi is scheduled for a local version of their “BLAST in HAWAII”, which is “BLAST in MIYAGI“. The said 4 day concert will also double as a charity work to help the Miyagi prefecture’s economy. The prefecture are among those that were greatly affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Since most of the fans will be traveling far, JR East line announced that they’ll be having extra trains for Arashi’s 4-day concert. The said train will travel from Sendai-Rifu station to Tokyo station.

  • In the land of former Johnny’s, the notorious Jin Akanishi announced that he will be starting his own fashion line. You can check-out his jinstagram for a sneak peek of his upcoming designs and I can now picture Kikuchi Fuma making reservations.

  • Let’s move on to one of Jin’s BFF, Yamapi, who is back as Tsuneo in an all-new Doraemon‘s Toyota CM with a new character. Check-out the newest CM here.

(c)nishiuchi

  • After you checked-out Yamapi’s lateset Toyota CM, do check-out Kis-My-Ft2‘s Tamamori Yuta‘s upcoming movie “Raintree no kuni” with the gorgeous Nishiuchi Mariya HERE. The trailer captivates the chemistry between the two, which is warm and fuzzy, but I’m still shipping Tamamori to Shiida Mirai.
  • Another trailer worth checking-out is “Grasshopper” movie starring Ikuta Toma and Yamada Ryosuke. I haven’t checked the movie’s website for a long time so I’m not so sure whether the trailer is the newest. Anyway, the new trailer featured actress Haru as Ikuta’s love interest and the subject of his revenge. Check-out the badass trailer, HERE.

That’s all for now, enjoy your weekend and Happy 32nd Birthday MatsuJun.

  • Kanjani8′s Yasuda Shota will challenge his first detective role in the movie “Scanner: kioku no kakera o yomu otoko“. Yasuda plays the role Sasabe Satoru, an elite detective of MPD, who holds the key in the story. Joining him is Nomura Mansai who was last seen as detective Suguro in “Oriento Kyuko Satsujin Jiken”.

  • Yamapi will be playing a monk in Fuji TV’s “5→9 ~watashi ni koishita ikemen sugiru obousan~” together with Ishihara Satomi. After playing a teacher and a mentally retarted, Yamapi’s next role will be a monk who falls in love with an English teacher. Will we get to see Ishihara and Yamapi converse in English?

  • After Jin Akanishi announced his upcoming fashion line, another “former Johnny” is into the fashion world with Tanaka Koki or just KOKI being the image model of VANQUISH. Rawwr!

In a nutshell, two Johnny’s will be wearing a bald cap this season starting with Ryo (okay, just semi-bald) in “Samurai Sensei” and Yamapi in his monk role! But wait, judging from the manga’s cover, I doubt that Yamapi has to worry himself about wearing a bald cap. It’s been a long time that Yamapi did a rom-com so I have to see this.

That’s all for now, I’m leaving you with a Kanjani8 gif with the girls doing what girls do.

Argh! I really hope that this movie will get an international release because I can’t wait to see a badass Yamada.

Ikuta Toma, Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke, and Asano Tadanobou attended the completion showcase of their movie “Grasshopper“. Grasshopper will hit the theaters this Nov 7th.

The revenge movie tells the story of once law-abiding teacher named Suzuki (Ikuta) who joined a criminal organization, Reijou, to avenge his lover (Haru). Suzuki will meet the lonely young assassin, Semi (Yamada), and suicide-driven assassin Kujira (Asano). The story will show how their lives will interlaced.

Ikuta’s movie role is called his “weakest character” in history, a person who works enthusiastically and wouldn’t even hurt an insect. Since this is revenge movie, it’s like saying that his love for his murdered fiance made him stronger.

This is the first time that Yamada and Ikuta worked together. Yamada shared that Ikuta emailed him before the filming and Yamada received a gush of pressure. “you have to boast your seniority,” Yamada joked. If Yamada felt the pressure to work with Ikuta, Ikuta is more than happy to work with Yoshioka Hidetaka, one of their co-stars. Both actors were born in Hokkaido and Ikuta shared that he grew-up watching Yoshioka’s dramas.

Grasshopper” will hit the theaters on Nov 7th. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, do check it out here. [Adobe flash player required]
